Poly shutters are made of a synthetic type material. It differs from vinyl because it has a solid core and a vinyl shutter typically has a hollow core. There are many different types of poly blends, but they share some similar characteristics. All poly blends are quite a bit heavier than their wood counterparts, weighing up to 50% more. This limits the size in width that each panel can be made. You will be lucky to find a supplier that can make a single shutter more than 28 inches wide when shopping for a poly shutter. This may not be able to0 accomplish the look you are after when designing a window for shutters
